Best AI agents for ecommerce support in 2026: 9 compared

An AI agent for ecommerce is only useful if it finishes the job: finds the order, applies the policy and takes the action. We compared nine agents on resolution, Shopify actions, guardrails and pricing, and whether they need their own helpdesk. Start with how to measure resolution rate.

Which AI agent is best for ecommerce support?

Aftersales Agent leads on resolution with actions and guardrails. The main difference between the rest is what they charge for.

How did we compare AI agents for ecommerce?

We scored each tool on the same six criteria and checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page in September 2026. Where a vendor does not publish prices, we describe the pricing model instead of guessing.

  • AI resolution. Does the AI finish the task (order lookup, refund, address change) or only answer questions?
  • Ecommerce context. Order data and actions inside the conversation.
  • Channels. Email, chat, WhatsApp, SMS, social and phone in one record.
  • Pricing model. Seats, ticket tiers, per-resolution or per-conversation fees, and minimums.
  • Setup and migration. Time to value and whether AI can run alongside your current helpdesk.
  • Security. SOC 2, GDPR, SSO and data residency.

For AI agents we added two checks: what counts as a billable event, and what stops the AI from over-refunding or mishandling an angry customer.

We are Aftersales, so we put our own product first. We have tried to be fair about where each alternative is the better pick, and the tool cards say what to watch out for, including for us.

What are the 9 best AI agents for ecommerce support?

Each agent below includes its pricing unit, because that decides your bill more than the headline price.

1. Aftersales: best for ecommerce teams that want AI to resolve and act, with a helpdesk included

Aftersales Agent resolves conversations end to end. It verifies orders in Shopify, runs order actions and replacements, issues Stripe refunds and updates Salesforce, following procedures you write in plain language. Escalation rules cover sentiment, keywords, customer tier and legal language, and spend guardrails cap what it can give away.

You can run it in the Aftersales helpdesk, or on its own inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk with no seats or migration. Customers see a median 71% resolution rate after 90 days, and Northwind Outdoors cut cost per conversation by 41%. See the resolution rate guide.

Best for
Brands that want resolution, not deflection, with predictable per-resolution pricing
Pricing
Free plan (1 seat). Starter $24, Growth $69, Scale $109 per seat/month billed annually (20% more monthly). Agent $0.99 per resolution, counted once per conversation; conversations Agent can't help with are free
Strengths
Shopify, Stripe and Salesforce actions; 31 languages; charged once per conversation, and unhelped conversations are free; SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA-ready
Watch out for
A younger company (founded in London in 2024), so the app ecosystem is smaller than older suites. Confirm niche integrations on a call

2. Gorgias AI Agent: best for Shopify brands already on Gorgias

Gorgias AI Agent answers questions and runs Shopify actions inside the Gorgias helpdesk. It is the natural choice if you already run Gorgias.

Each automated interaction is billed and also counts toward your ticket allowance.

Best for
Existing Gorgias customers
Pricing
$0.90 per automated interaction on annual contracts ($1.00 monthly), on top of a ticket-tier helpdesk plan
Strengths
Native to Gorgias, Shopify order context
Watch out for
Only works inside Gorgias, and AI interactions also consume helpdesk tickets

3. Intercom Fin: best for teams that want a mature AI agent on any helpdesk

Fin is Intercom's AI agent. It runs in Intercom's helpdesk and can also sit on top of other helpdesks.

Intercom charges per outcome on top of seat plans. See Intercom pricing.

Best for
SaaS and ecommerce teams that value messenger UX
Pricing
$0.99 per outcome, plus Intercom seats from $29/month if you use its helpdesk
Strengths
Mature agent, polished messenger, workflows
Watch out for
An outcome includes cases where the customer does not ask for more help, and seats are billed separately

4. Zendesk AI agents: best for large teams standardized on Zendesk

Zendesk includes AI agents in every Suite and Support plan and bills per automated resolution.

Rates beyond plan allowances come from sales.

Best for
Enterprises already on Zendesk
Pricing
Included in Suite plans (from $55 per agent/month annual), then billed per automated resolution; rates from sales
Strengths
Native to Zendesk, enterprise controls
Watch out for
Per-resolution rates are not public, and ecommerce actions depend on apps

5. Siena AI: best for brands that want an AI layer on their current helpdesk

Siena is an AI agent that runs on top of an existing helpdesk such as Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer or Dixa. With Shopify connected it can cancel orders, process refunds, send replacements and update addresses.

Pricing combines a platform fee with a per-ticket automation charge.

Best for
Mid-market and larger brands keeping their current helpdesk
Pricing
$750/month platform fee plus $0.90 per automated ticket
Strengths
Runs inside Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer and Dixa; Shopify order actions
Watch out for
The platform fee makes it expensive for low volumes, and you still pay for a separate helpdesk

6. Yuma AI: best for outcome-based AI inside your existing helpdesk

Yuma is an ecommerce AI agent that works inside helpdesks such as Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Re:amaze, Freshdesk and Front, with Shopify actions for order status, refunds and cancellations.

Yuma says you pay only when it fully resolves a ticket. It does not publish rates.

Best for
Brands that want outcome-based AI without switching helpdesks
Pricing
Outcome-based, quote only; 30-day free trial

Richpanel's AI agents cover email, chat, social, SMS and WhatsApp on one meter, inside the Richpanel helpdesk.

Best for
DTC brands on Richpanel

Freshdesk customers
Pricing
500 sessions included, then $49 per 100 sessions; Freshdesk from $19 per agent/month annual

Sessions are charged whether or not they resolve; ecommerce actions need apps

Best for
Small stores starting with AI chat
Pricing
From $32.50/month for 50 Lyro conversations; Tidio plans from free

Fast setup, low entry price
Watch out for
Conversation packs, not resolutions, and limited order actions

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI agent for ecommerce support?
It is AI that handles customer conversations end to end, such as order status, cancellations, returns and refunds, by reading store data and taking actions, then handing off to a human when it can't finish.
How much do AI agents for ecommerce cost?
Published prices range from $0.20 per conversation (Richpanel) to about $0.90 to $1.00 per resolution or interaction (Aftersales, Gorgias, Fin, Siena). Some add platform fees or require a separate helpdesk.
What resolution rate should I expect?
It depends on your ticket mix and how many actions the AI can take. Aftersales customers reach a median 71% resolution after 90 days. Ask every vendor for resolution, not deflection.
Is per-resolution pricing better than per-conversation?
Per-resolution pricing ties cost to success, so you do not pay when the AI fails. Per-conversation pricing can be cheaper per unit but charges for every conversation the AI touches.
Can an AI agent issue refunds safely?
Yes, with guardrails. Aftersales Agent issues Stripe refunds within spend limits and escalates on sentiment, keywords, customer tier or legal language.
Do I have to replace my helpdesk to use an AI agent?
No. Aftersales Agent runs inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk, and Siena and Yuma run on top of several helpdesks.
