Zendesk vs HubSpot Service Hub: which is better?
Zendesk is the better pick for support teams that need a dedicated, deep help desk. HubSpot Service Hub is the better pick for companies whose marketing and sales already run on the HubSpot CRM.
Zendesk is built for service first: ticketing, omnichannel routing, a large help center toolkit, voice and an app marketplace with 1,800+ apps and integrations, according to Zendesk. HubSpot Service Hub is built on the CRM first: tickets sit on the same contact, company and deal records your sales and marketing teams use, and it adds customer success tools such as health scores and feedback surveys.
On AI, HubSpot lists its Customer Agent at $0.50 per resolution but requires Professional or Enterprise. Zendesk includes a small allowance of automated resolutions on every plan and charges $2.00 per extra resolution on pay-as-you-go, with lower rates if you commit to a volume. Neither is cheaper in every case, so the right answer depends on where your customer data lives and how much you plan to automate.

What are the main differences between Zendesk and HubSpot Service Hub?
Help desk first vs CRM first
Zendesk models support as tickets moving through views, triggers and SLAs, with its own user and organization records. HubSpot models support as one part of the customer record, so a rep sees deals, marketing emails and past tickets on the same timeline. If your sales team lives in HubSpot, that shared record is the biggest reason to stay in HubSpot.
AI agents and how they bill
Both bill AI agents on outcomes. HubSpot counts a resolution when Customer Agent helped and the conversation was not handed to a human rep for 72 hours, and charges $0.50 each in credits. Zendesk calls the unit an automated resolution, meaning a request the AI agent resolved without escalation to a human. Zendesk includes 5 or 10 per agent each month depending on plan, then $2.00 each on pay-as-you-go. HubSpot says Customer Agent can take actions in your CRM and Shopify; Zendesk offers an action builder with prebuilt connectors to read, write and trigger actions in other systems.
Channels and voice
Zendesk Suite plans bundle messaging, live chat, social channels and telephony, with IVR phone menus on Suite Professional and a Contact Center add-on at $83/agent/month annual. HubSpot includes calling minutes on paid plans and supports WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, but its channel list is shorter.
Admin and scale
Zendesk has more controls for large operations: skills-based routing, multiple brands and help centers, sandbox environments and custom agent roles on higher tiers. HubSpot is easier to run for teams that already know its workflows and properties, but complex support routing can feel like CRM configuration rather than help desk setup.
Is Zendesk or HubSpot Service Hub cheaper?
HubSpot is usually cheaper per seat at the mid tier and much cheaper per AI resolution. Zendesk is cheaper at entry level and has no onboarding fee. Prices below come from the Zendesk pricing page and the HubSpot Service Hub pricing page.
- Zendesk: Support Team $19, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 per agent/month billed annually ($25, $69 and $149 monthly). Suite Enterprise is quoted by sales. Copilot is $50/agent/month annual. Extra automated resolutions are $2.00 each on pay-as-you-go.
- HubSpot Service Hub: Free for up to 2 users. Starter from $20/seat/month on monthly billing. Professional $90/seat/month annual ($100 monthly) with a required $1,500 onboarding fee. Enterprise from $150/seat/month with a required $3,500 onboarding fee. Paid plans include HubSpot Credits (500, 3,000 and 5,000), and extra credits cost $0.01 each. Customer Agent uses $0.50 of credits per resolution.
Worked example: 10 agents, 1,000 AI resolutions a month
- Zendesk Suite Professional: 10 x $115 = $1,150. 100 resolutions are included (10 per agent), so 900 x $2.00 = $1,800 on pay-as-you-go. About $2,950 a month, less if you commit to a resolution volume.
- HubSpot Service Hub Professional: 10 x $90 = $900. 1,000 x $0.50 = $500, minus the 3,000 included credits ($30). About $1,370 a month, plus $1,500 onboarding in year one.
Assumptions: list prices checked October 2026, annual billing, no add-ons, all included credits spent on Customer Agent, and the same number of AI resolutions on each tool. In practice resolution rates differ between tools, and Zendesk's committed resolution rates are set with sales, so treat this as a starting point, not a quote. Should your team pick Zendesk or HubSpot Service Hub?
Pick by where your customer data lives and how complex your support operation is.
- Your sales and marketing teams already use HubSpot: HubSpot Service Hub. One record beats a sync.
- B2B SaaS with account managers and renewals: HubSpot, for the customer success workspace and deal context. See support for SaaS.
- High-volume B2C or ecommerce with many channels: Zendesk, for omnichannel routing, voice and messaging depth. See support for ecommerce.
- Several brands or regions: Zendesk, for multiple brands and help centers.
- Phone-heavy contact center: Zendesk with its Contact Center add-on.
- Tiny team, no budget: HubSpot's free tools for up to 2 users.
- Heavy AI automation on a budget: HubSpot's $0.50 per resolution is lower than Zendesk's $2.00 pay-as-you-go rate, but you need Professional to use it.

Is there a third option besides Zendesk and HubSpot?
Yes. If you want AI to do most of the work and neither a ticketing suite nor a CRM suite fits, Aftersales is an AI customer service platform built around resolution. Agent resolves conversations end to end and takes actions, such as verifying a Shopify order, creating a replacement or issuing a Stripe refund, within spend limits and escalation rules you set. Copilot drafts replies that cite their sources, and Inbox is one queue for AI and humans across email, chat, WhatsApp, SMS, phone, social DMs and Slack Connect.
| Feature | Aftersales |
|---|---|
| Pricing | Free $0; Starter $24, Growth $69, Scale $109 per seat/month billed annually (20% more monthly); no onboarding fee listed |
| AI pricing | Agent $0.99 per resolution on every plan, counted once per conversation; free when Agent can't help; first 50 resolutions free on Free |

Already on Zendesk and do not want to migrate? Aftersales Agent can run inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk with no seats and no migration, at $0.99 per resolution with a minimum monthly commitment. It does not run inside HubSpot, so HubSpot teams who want to stay put should use Customer Agent.
Be honest about the trade-offs. HubSpot's $0.50 per resolution is lower than Aftersales' $0.99, and Zendesk's ecosystem is far larger. Aftersales was founded in 2024, so confirm niche integrations on a call. What it offers instead is AI on every plan with no Professional tier required, actions with revocable permissions, and one unit cost per conversation. Median resolution is 71% after 90 days, and Northwind Outdoors cut cost per conversation by 41%. Same example as above, 10 agents on Growth with 1,000 resolutions: 10 x $69 + 1,000 x $0.99 = $1,680 a month. See pricing and customer stories.
