Best customer service QA software in 2026: 9 tools that score every conversation

Manual QA reviews a few tickets per agent a week. The tools below use AI to score every conversation, including the ones your AI agent handles. We compared helpdesks with QA built in, like Aftersales Insights, against dedicated QA platforms that plug into your existing helpdesk or contact center.

What is customer service quality assurance software?

Customer service quality assurance (QA) software scores support conversations against a scorecard so you can see how well each agent, human or AI, handles customers, and coach them on what to fix. The old way was manual sampling: a QA lead reads a handful of tickets per agent each week and fills in a spreadsheet. Most conversations never get reviewed.

The current generation of tools adds AI auto-QA. A model reads every conversation and scores it against criteria such as greeting, accuracy, tone, empathy, policy adherence and resolution. People then review the conversations the AI flags, rather than a random sample. Almost every tool on this list now says it covers 100% of conversations, so the differences are elsewhere:

  • Where it lives: built into your helpdesk, or a separate tool that connects to it.
  • Channels: chat and email only, or voice calls from a contact center platform too.
  • What happens after the score: coaching, calibration, disputes, training simulations, or reporting only.
  • AI agent coverage: whether your chatbot or AI agent is graded on the same scorecard as your team.

If you are building a QA program from scratch, start with our guide to resolution rate and the support metrics worth tracking alongside quality scores.

How do the best customer service QA tools compare?

Aftersales is the pick if you want quality scoring built into the helpdesk your team and AI agent already work in. If you are staying on your current helpdesk, Zendesk QA, MaestroQA and Kaizo are the strongest dedicated options; voice-heavy contact centers should look at evaluagent, Scorebuddy, Level AI or Observe.AI.

Checked October 2026 on each vendor's own website. Most QA vendors quote on contract; confirm current prices with each vendor.

How did we compare these QA tools?

We looked at each vendor's own website and help documentation in October 2026 and compared them on:

  • Auto-QA coverage: whether AI scores every conversation or only a sample, and whether scoring is metered by credits.
  • Scorecards: custom criteria, weighting, and whether you can write criteria in plain language.
  • AI agent QA: whether bot and AI agent conversations are graded on the same standard as human ones.
  • Workflow after the score: coaching, calibration, disputes, training and reporting.
  • Channels and integrations: helpdesks and contact center platforms each tool connects to.
  • Pricing: published prices where they exist. Where a vendor only quotes, we say so rather than guess.

Aftersales is our product and we list it first. It is a helpdesk with QA built in, not a standalone QA tool, so each entry below says plainly where a specialist does more.

The 9 best customer service QA software tools in 2026

1. Aftersales: best for teams that want QA built into the helpdesk and AI agent

Aftersales is an AI customer service platform. Agent resolves conversations end to end, Inbox is the shared helpdesk for AI and humans, and Insights handles reporting. For QA, the part that matters is Monitors: quality checks that run on every conversation in the inbox, from Growth upward, instead of a weekly sample. Insights Pro adds custom scorecards, and Insights reports CSAT for AI and human conversations side by side, so your AI agent is held to the same bar as your team.

Because scoring sits in the same product as the conversation, a low score is one click from the thread, the customer data and what Agent already tried. Insights also flags emerging issues in real time and reports resolution rate and cost per conversation, which helps when a quality drop is really a process or product problem. Helio Energy raised quality scores by 14 points after Monitors replaced sampling.

Be clear about the limits. Monitors score conversations handled in Aftersales; if you plan to stay on another helpdesk, a standalone tool such as Zendesk QA or MaestroQA fits better. Aftersales does not offer a learning management system, training simulations or speech analytics for an external contact center platform, so large voice operations with formal calibration and dispute programs will get more from a specialist.

Best for
Support teams of 3 to 100 that run (or will move) email, chat, messaging and phone into one helpdesk and want every conversation, including AI agent ones, checked automatically
Pricing
Monitors on Growth ($69 per seat/month) and Scale ($109), billed annually; monthly billing is 20% more. Custom scorecards with Insights Pro, $99/month. Agent $0.99 per resolution. Free plan and 14-day trial.
Strengths
QA, helpdesk and AI agent in one product. Same scorecard for AI and humans. Real-time issue detection, CSAT for AI and humans, cost per conversation. Events API and CSV export on every plan; Snowflake, BigQuery and Redshift sync on Scale.
Watch out for
Only scores conversations in Aftersales. No LMS, training simulations or CCaaS speech analytics. Custom scorecards are a paid add-on.

Stop sampling 2% of tickets.Turn on Monitors in a 14-day trial and see every conversation scored, AI and human.

2. Zendesk QA (formerly Klaus): best for teams staying on Zendesk

Zendesk bought Klaus in early 2024 and renamed it Zendesk QA. Its AutoQA scores every conversation using ready-made categories such as empathy, solution and tone, or custom criteria you describe in a prompt, without training a model. It covers voice, messaging, chat and ticketing, including conversations from BPO partners, and lets you compare AI agent and human scores side by side.

It is sold as an add-on to any Zendesk Support or Suite plan. Zendesk's help center also documents connecting Intercom and setting up custom integrations, so it is not strictly Zendesk-only, but it is clearly built for Zendesk customers.

Best for
Zendesk teams that want mature, dedicated QA without leaving Zendesk
Pricing
Add-on to a Zendesk plan. Zendesk publishes the Workforce Engagement bundle (QA plus workforce management) at $50 per agent/month billed annually; the QA add-on on its own is priced by sales.
Strengths
Mature QA workflows from the Klaus product, AutoQA on 100% of conversations, prompt-based custom categories, voice and BPO coverage, AI agent QA
Watch out for
You pay for it on top of Zendesk seats and AI. Outside Zendesk, check that your helpdesk is a supported connection. See Zendesk pricing and our Zendesk alternative page.

3. MaestroQA (now Rippit): best for multi-helpdesk QA programs

MaestroQA was one of the best-known dedicated QA platforms. In February 2026 it rebranded as Rippit and now positions itself as an AI conversation data platform, with QA as one use case alongside chatbot monitoring, churn risk and product feedback. The maestroqa.com site still runs and lists integrations with Zendesk, Intercom, Kustomer, Gorgias, Salesforce, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gladly and Front.

It analyzes 100% of conversations with AI, and adds coaching on agent behaviors. The breadth of helpdesk connections is the reason to pick it: if your team spans two helpdesks, or you plan to switch helpdesk later, your QA program does not have to move.

Best for
Larger support orgs that want one QA program across several helpdesks and data in a warehouse
Pricing
Not published; pricing is tailored after a sales conversation.
Strengths
Widest helpdesk coverage on this list, data warehouse and API ingest, AI analysis of every conversation, coaching
Watch out for
The rebrand shifts focus from QA toward broader conversation analytics, so confirm the QA roadmap in your contract. No public pricing.

4. evaluagent: best published pricing for auto-QA

evaluagent is a UK-based QA and coaching platform. Its AutoQM plan scores 100% of conversations, transcribes voice, and runs custom scorecards and coaching workflows. The higher plan adds conversation intelligence: sentiment, contact reason detection, summaries and topic detection. AI agents are priced separately per conversation.

Best for
Contact centers that want auto-QA and coaching with a published starting price
Pricing
AutoQM and Improvement from $35 per user/month; AutoQM plus Conversation Intelligence from $65 per user/month. AI agent QA priced per conversation. Volume discounts and a proof of concept available.
Strengths
Transparent starting prices, voice transcription included, integrations with Genesys, NICE CXone, Five9, Talkdesk, Amazon Connect, RingCentral, Salesforce, HubSpot and Zendesk
Watch out for
A separate tool to run next to your helpdesk. Prices are starting points, so get a quote for your volume.

5. Scorebuddy: best for calibration and training in contact centers

Scorebuddy combines QA scorecards, calibration, coaching and a built-in learning management system. AI Auto Scoring covers voice, chat and email, and can grade chatbot conversations too. Plans differ mainly in how many AI scores are included each month and which integrations you get.

Best for
QA teams that run formal calibration sessions and want training assigned from QA results
Pricing
Quote only. Three tiers: Foundation, Accelerate (500 AI scores a month, CCaaS integrations, coaching) and Elite (1,000 AI scores, conversation analytics, Salesforce, open API, SSO). 14-day free trial.
Strengths
Calibration module, peer scoring, compliance reporting, LMS add-on, CCaaS integrations with Genesys, Amazon Connect, NICE CXone, Five9, Talkdesk and Dixa
Watch out for
AI scoring is metered by monthly credits, so 100% coverage at high volume needs extra credits. Salesforce and the open API sit on the top tier.

6. Kaizo: best lightweight AI QA for Zendesk and Salesforce

Kaizo's AutoPilot scores resolved conversations against your own scorecards and leaves comments reviewers can check, with people making the final call. It grades human and AI agent conversations on the same standard and adds coaching cards, calibration tools and gamification.

Best for
Small and mid-size Zendesk or Salesforce support teams that want AI QA live quickly
Pricing
Per seat, quote only. Insight (1 to 25 seats), Intelligence (26+) and Enterprise. Every plan scores 100% of conversations. Demo runs on a sample of your own conversations.
Strengths
Simple setup, AI and human graded on one standard, coaching and gamification, tiers sized for small teams
Watch out for
Supports Zendesk and Salesforce only today. Number of custom automated criteria is capped by plan (10, 25 or 50).

7. Level AI: best for enterprise contact centers that want QA plus analytics

Level AI is a contact center AI platform. Its Auto-QA evaluates 100% of interactions across calls, chat, email and social against criteria such as empathy and professionalism, with coaching insights attached. QA sits next to conversation analytics and agent assist in one platform.

Best for
Large, voice-heavy contact centers that want QA, analytics and agent assist from one vendor
Pricing
Not published; sold through a demo.
Strengths
Voice and digital in one model, 100% coverage, 40+ integrations, enterprise scale
Watch out for
More platform than a small digital-first team needs. No public pricing.

8. Observe.AI: best when you also want voice AI agents

Observe.AI evaluates 100% of interactions and tracks performance in real time, and also sells customer-facing voice and chat AI agents and real-time agent assist. QA is one part of a wider contact center platform rather than the whole product.

Best for
Contact centers that want QA from the same vendor as their voice AI agents
Pricing
Not published; sold through a demo.
Strengths
Strong voice focus, real-time performance tracking, AI agents and QA in one platform
Watch out for
Built for contact center scale; a lot to buy if you only need QA for an email and chat team.

9. Solidroad: best for turning QA findings into training

Solidroad reviews conversations with AI scorecards measuring skills like empathy, communication and process adherence, then turns gaps into realistic AI customer simulations agents practise on. It connects to helpdesks including Zendesk, Intercom, Gladly, Gorgias, Help Scout and ServiceNow.

Best for
Teams with high hiring volume or BPOs that want QA results to drive onboarding and practice
Pricing
Not published; sold through a demo.
Strengths
Training simulations generated from QA findings, AI scorecards, broad helpdesk connections
Watch out for
Younger company; reporting depth and calibration tooling are less established than older QA platforms. Check fit in a pilot.

How much does customer service QA software cost?

QA software is usually priced per agent on top of your helpdesk, so the comparison only works if you count both. Here is an example using list prices.

Example assumptions: a 10-person support team handling email and chat, billed annually, wanting automated scoring on every conversation.

  • Aftersales Growth: 10 seats at $69 = $690 a month, which includes the helpdesk and Monitors. Add Insights Pro for custom scorecards at $99: $789 a month. If you also use Agent, add $0.99 per resolution.
  • Zendesk plus Zendesk QA: your Zendesk plan for 10 agents, plus the Workforce Engagement bundle at $50 x 10 = $500 a month, or the QA add-on priced by sales.
  • Any helpdesk plus evaluagent: your helpdesk, plus AutoQM from $35 x 10 = $350 a month, or $650 with conversation intelligence.

MaestroQA, Scorebuddy, Kaizo, Level AI, Observe.AI and Solidroad quote on contract. See Aftersales pricing for every plan and add-on.

Which QA software is best for your team?

  • QA built into the helpdesk, with AI agent and humans on one scorecard: Aftersales.
  • You are staying on Zendesk: Zendesk QA, or Kaizo for a lighter option.
  • Several helpdesks or a planned helpdesk switch: MaestroQA (Rippit).
  • Published per-user pricing and voice transcription: evaluagent.
  • Formal calibration and an LMS: Scorebuddy.
  • Large voice contact center on Genesys, Five9 or NICE: Level AI, Observe.AI, evaluagent or Scorebuddy.
  • QA that feeds onboarding and practice: Solidroad.

How do you set up AI auto-QA on every conversation?

Start with a short scorecard, let AI score everything, and spend human review time on the conversations that score low or that the AI is unsure about.

  1. Write 6 to 10 criteria. For example: correct answer, followed the procedure, clear next step, tone matched the customer, no unnecessary back-and-forth, resolved or escalated correctly. Write each one as a yes/no question.
  2. Mark auto-fail items. Things like sharing data with the wrong person or promising a refund outside policy should fail a conversation regardless of other scores.
  3. Calibrate the AI. Have two reviewers and the AI score the same 50 conversations, then tighten any criterion where they disagree.
  4. Score AI agents on the same card. An AI agent that answers confidently but wrongly is a quality problem, not just a deflection metric.
  5. Route low scores to coaching. Review weekly with each agent, and send repeated failures on the same topic to whoever owns the help center article or procedure.
  6. Track trend, not just averages. Watch quality score alongside CSAT, resolution rate and cost per conversation.

Frequently asked questions

What is auto-QA in customer service?
Auto-QA uses AI to score support conversations against your scorecard automatically, instead of a person reviewing a small sample. It lets you check every conversation and point human reviewers at the ones that score low. Most tools still let a reviewer override the AI score.
What percentage of customer service conversations should be QA reviewed?
With AI scoring, the target is all of them. Manual programs typically review a few conversations per agent per week, which misses most problems. A practical setup is AI on 100% plus human review of flagged or low-scoring conversations and a regular calibration sample.
What should a customer service QA scorecard include?
Keep it to 6 to 10 yes/no criteria: correct answer, procedure followed, tone, clarity of next steps, efficiency, and correct resolution or escalation. Add a few auto-fail items such as privacy or policy breaches. Weight the criteria that drive CSAT and repeat contacts.
What happened to Klaus and MaestroQA?
Zendesk acquired Klaus in 2024 and sells it as Zendesk QA, an add-on to Zendesk plans. MaestroQA rebranded as Rippit in February 2026 and now positions itself as an AI conversation data platform, with QA as one use case.
Can QA software score AI agent and chatbot conversations?
Many can now, including Aftersales, Zendesk QA, Kaizo, Scorebuddy and evaluagent. Scoring AI and human conversations on the same scorecard is the simplest way to see whether the AI is actually resolving issues well, not just closing them.
Do I need a separate QA tool if my helpdesk has QA built in?
Not usually for a small or mid-size digital team. A dedicated tool makes sense if you use several helpdesks, run a large voice contact center, or need formal calibration, disputes and a learning management system.
