What are the best Intercom Fin alternatives?
Aftersales is the closest like-for-like swap for Fin: the same $0.99 price, but billed only when Agent resolves the conversation, with a helpdesk included and Agent available inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk. The bigger split among the rest is the billing unit: resolution, outcome, conversation, session or interaction.
| Tool | Billed per | Published AI price | Runs on | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intercom Fin (benchmark) | Outcome | $0.99 | Intercom, or other helpdesks with a monthly minimum | SaaS and in-app support |
| Aftersales | Resolution, once per conversation | $0.99; free when Agent can't help | Aftersales, or inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud, Freshdesk | SMB to enterprise |
| Decagon | Conversation or resolution | Quote only | Decagon, connected to your systems | Enterprise, voice |
| Sierra | Outcome | Quote only | Sierra, connected to your systems | Enterprise consumer brands |
| Ada | Conversation (resolution on request) | Quote only | Ada, in front of your helpdesk | Enterprise |
| Zendesk AI agents | Automated resolution | 5 to 10 per agent included; pay-as-you-go $2.00 | Zendesk | Teams on Zendesk |
| Forethought (part of Zendesk) | Platform fee plus outcomes | Quote only | Connected to your helpdesk | Mid-market, enterprise |
| Salesforce Agentforce | Conversation or Flex Credits | $2 per conversation, or $500 per 100,000 credits | Salesforce | Salesforce enterprises |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | Resolved conversation (credits) | $0.50 (50 credits) | HubSpot Service Hub | Teams on HubSpot |
| Gorgias AI Agent | Automated interaction | $0.90 annual, $1.00 monthly | Gorgias | Shopify stores |
| Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent | Session | 500 included, then $49 per 100 | Freshdesk | SMB on Freshdesk |

Why do teams look for a Fin alternative?
Most teams look past Fin for one of three reasons: the outcome definition, the seat bill around it, or a channel Fin's setup does not fit.
- The outcome definition. Intercom counts an outcome when the customer confirms the answer, when they don't ask for more help after Fin responds, or when Fin completes a procedure, including handoffs. The second case can include customers who simply gave up.
- Seats on top of outcomes. Inside Intercom you pay Fin outcomes plus seats at $29 to $132 per seat/month billed annually. Read the full breakdown in Intercom pricing.
- Helpdesk fit. Fin runs on other helpdesks with a monthly minimum; some teams would rather use an agent native to the helpdesk they have, or one that also covers voice.
How did we compare Fin alternatives?
We scored every tool against Fin on the same six questions and checked prices on each vendor's own site in October 2026. When a vendor does not publish prices, we describe its pricing model instead of guessing.
- Billing unit compared with Fin's outcome. Intercom counts an outcome when the customer confirms the answer, does not ask for more help after Fin replies, or Fin completes a procedure, including handoffs. We noted whether each alternative bills less (resolutions only) or more (every conversation or session).
- Price per resolved conversation. The number that decides your bill, not the headline rate. See the worked example.
- Actions. Can the AI look up orders, issue refunds or change records with permissions you control, or only answer from documents?
- Where it runs. Its own helpdesk, inside the one you have, or as a separate layer. Fin runs in Intercom or, with a minimum commitment, on other helpdesks.
- Guardrails and handoff. Spend limits, escalation rules and what the human sees when the AI hands over.
- Buying process. Self-serve with public prices, or a sales-led contract.
We are Aftersales, so we list ourselves first. Each card says where another tool is the better pick, including against us. For a wider field beyond Fin, see the best AI customer service software.
Which AI agents compete with Intercom Fin?
Each card leads with the billing unit, because that is where Fin alternatives differ most. For Fin itself, Intercom lists $0.99 per outcome plus Intercom seats at $29, $85 and $132 per seat/month billed annually; Fin on another helpdesk needs no seats but has a monthly minimum. The full breakdown is in our Intercom pricing guide.
1. Aftersales: best overall Fin alternative for resolution-only billing and actions
Aftersales Agent is priced like Fin at $0.99, but the unit is narrower: Agent is billed once per conversation it resolves, and conversations it can't help with are free. It reads intent, entities, sentiment and language from the first message in 31 languages, then follows procedures your team writes in plain language or imports from existing macros. Each step maps to a connector or API with explicit, revocable permissions, so Agent can verify Shopify orders and create replacements, issue Stripe refunds, update Salesforce, or call your own systems through the Aftersales API and webhooks.
Guardrails cover spend and value limits, escalation on sentiment, keywords, customer tier or legal language, brand voice and banned phrases. On handoff, the person gets the conversation, the data Agent looked up and what it already tried. Customers see a median 71% of conversations resolved by Agent after 90 days. If you are leaving Intercom completely, the shared Inbox, Copilot and Insights replace the helpdesk side; if you only want to replace Fin, Agent runs inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk with no seats and no migration. Compare the two platforms on our Intercom alternative page.
- Best for
- Teams that want Fin-level pricing but pay only for confirmed resolutions, with actions and guardrails
- Pricing
- Free plan (1 seat, first 50 Agent resolutions free). Starter $24, Growth $69, Scale $109 per seat/month billed annually (20% more monthly). Agent $0.99 per resolution on every plan. Agent alone inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk: $0.99 per resolution with a minimum monthly commitment. See pricing
- Strengths
- Resolution-only billing; Shopify, Stripe and Salesforce actions with spend guardrails; seats from $24 against Intercom's $29; GDPR DPA, US-hosted; HIPAA support with a signed BAA on the Enterprise plan
- Watch out for
- A newer company (founded 2024). Intercom is still stronger for product tours and in-app messaging to logged-in users, and we don't list an AI voice agent. Integrations beyond Shopify, Stripe, Salesforce, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Slack and Jira go through the API or webhooks, so confirm specific connectors on a call
2. Decagon: best for enterprises that want Fin-style procedures plus voice
Decagon builds AI agents for chat, email and voice on one shared layer. Its Agent Operating Procedures (AOPs) let CX teams define workflows in natural language, which is the closest enterprise match to Fin's procedures. Decagon offers per-conversation or per-resolution pricing and says most of its customers choose per conversation. Prices are not published. See Decagon vs Sierra and our Decagon alternative page.
- Best for
- Enterprise CX teams with high volume and voice in scope
- Pricing
- Per conversation or per resolution; quote only
- Strengths
- Natural-language AOPs, voice, chat and email from one agent, enterprise deployments
- Watch out for
- No public prices or self-serve trial; per-conversation billing charges for escalations; you still need a helpdesk for human agents
3. Sierra: best for large consumer brands that want an outcome-priced managed build
Sierra deploys one agent across chat, SMS, WhatsApp, email, voice and ChatGPT, and can build agents from SOPs, transcripts or plain-English descriptions. Like Fin, it uses outcome-based pricing, but on negotiated enterprise contracts rather than a public rate. Its site lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA and GDPR among its certifications.
- Best for
- Enterprises with complex, long-running journeys and voice
- Pricing
- Outcome-based; quote only
- Strengths
- Widest channel coverage here, including voice; long-horizon tasks; deep enterprise security list
- Watch out for
- Sales-led and sized for large brands; no public prices; a helpdesk for human agents is separate. See our Sierra alternative page
4. Ada: best for enterprises that want an AI layer in front of an existing helpdesk
Ada is an enterprise AI agent platform for messaging, email and voice that sits in front of the helpdesk you already run, with playbooks to automate processes. Ada describes conversation-based pricing as its main model, with resolution-based pricing for some enterprise customers. That makes it the opposite of Fin's approach: predictable volume-based bills, but you pay for conversations that escalate.
- Best for
- Enterprises that want predictable per-conversation budgets
- Pricing
- Conversation-based by default, resolution-based on request; quote only
- Strengths
- Long enterprise track record; voice, messaging and email; works alongside your current helpdesk
- Watch out for
- No public prices; conversations that fail are still billed; another platform to run. See our Ada alternative page
5. Zendesk AI agents: best if your team already lives in Zendesk
Zendesk includes AI agents in its plans with an allowance of automated resolutions, 5 per agent per month on Suite Team and 10 on Suite Professional, then bills extra resolutions at a committed rate from sales or pay-as-you-go at $2.00. If your workflows and reporting are in Zendesk, it avoids running Fin as a separate layer. See Zendesk pricing.
- Best for
- Mid-market and enterprise teams standardized on Zendesk
- Pricing
- Suite Team $55 and Suite Professional $115 per agent/month billed annually. Extra automated resolutions pay-as-you-go $2.00; committed rates from sales. Copilot add-on $50 per agent/month
- Strengths
- Native to Zendesk, AI across messaging, email and voice, large app marketplace
- Watch out for
- Pay-as-you-go resolutions cost about twice Fin's $0.99. Aftersales Agent can run inside Zendesk at $0.99 per resolution instead
6. Forethought: best for support teams that want separate AI agents for resolution, triage and QA
Forethought sells several agents: Solve resolves issues across chat, email, voice and Slack, Triage classifies and routes tickets, Discover finds knowledge gaps, and a QA agent scores human tickets. It now describes itself as part of Zendesk. Pricing blends a platform access fee with outcome-based charges, and it offers a proof of value on your data instead of a free trial.
- Best for
- Mid-market and enterprise teams that want triage and QA alongside resolution
- Pricing
- Platform fee plus outcome-based pricing across Team, Professional and Enterprise tiers; quote only
- Strengths
- Separate agents for resolution, routing, insights and QA; voice and Slack on higher tiers
- Watch out for
- Prices aren't published; now part of Zendesk, so check the roadmap if you run another helpdesk
7. Salesforce Agentforce: best for enterprises whose customer data lives in Salesforce
Agentforce builds agents directly on Salesforce records, flows and permissions. For customer-facing agents, Salesforce lists $2 per conversation, or Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits, with a standard action using 20 credits and a voice action 30. Fin already runs on Salesforce too, so the choice is usually about build control versus price.
- Best for
- Large Salesforce customers with admins to build and govern agents
- Pricing
- $2 per conversation, or Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000). Salesforce licenses are separate
- Strengths
- Deep CRM data and permissions, voice actions, enterprise governance
- Watch out for
- Per-conversation billing charges for failed conversations and costs about twice Fin per unit; building takes admin or partner time. Aftersales Agent also runs inside Salesforce Service Cloud at $0.99 per resolution
8. HubSpot Customer Agent: cheapest per resolution for teams on HubSpot
Since April 14, 2026, HubSpot bills Customer Agent at 50 HubSpot Credits per resolved conversation, which HubSpot puts at $0.50, and nothing when the agent hands off to a person. Professional and Enterprise Service Hub plans include 3,000 and 5,000 credits a month. On list price it is about half of Fin per resolution.
- Best for
- SMB and mid-market teams running sales and service in HubSpot
- Pricing
- $0.50 per resolved conversation. Service Hub Professional from $90 per seat/month (onboarding fee $1,500); Enterprise from $150 per seat/month
- Strengths
- Lowest published price per resolution, CRM context, no charge for handoffs
- Watch out for
- Only Professional and Enterprise plans include it; best value only if you already run HubSpot; included credits cover about 60 to 100 resolutions
9. Gorgias AI Agent: best for Shopify stores that want ecommerce-first AI
Gorgias is a helpdesk built for ecommerce, priced by ticket volume, with an AI Agent billed per automated interaction: $0.90 on annual plans, $1.00 monthly and $1.50 above your allowance. Each automated interaction also counts as a helpdesk ticket. See Gorgias pricing and Intercom vs Gorgias.
- Best for
- Shopify and DTC stores
- Pricing
- Helpdesk Basic $50, Pro $300, Advanced $750 per month billed annually (300, 2,000 and 5,000 tickets). AI Agent $0.90 per interaction annual, $1.00 monthly, $1.50 overage
- Strengths
- Built for ecommerce, no per-user pricing, slightly cheaper than Fin per unit on annual terms
- Watch out for
- AI interactions also use ticket allowance; overage at $1.50; less suited to SaaS in-app support
10. Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent: best low-cost option for Freshdesk teams
Freddy AI Agent is built into Freshdesk. Every plan includes 500 sessions, then sessions cost $49 per 100. Seats are among the cheapest here. See Freshdesk pricing.
- Best for
- SMB and mid-market teams on Freshdesk
- Pricing
- 500 sessions included, then $49 per 100. Freshdesk Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent/month billed annually. Freddy AI Copilot $29 per agent/month
- Strengths
- Low seat prices, included allowance, native to Freshdesk
- Watch out for
- Sessions are billed whether or not they resolve. Aftersales Agent can run inside Freshdesk at $0.99 per resolution
How does per-resolution pricing compare with Fin?
On list prices, HubSpot is cheapest per resolution if you already run HubSpot, Aftersales and Fin cost about the same per resolution, and per-conversation or per-session tools cost more because they bill conversations the AI didn't solve.
Example assumptions: 5,000 conversations a month handled first by AI, 60% resolved by AI (3,000), five human agents, annual billing, list prices only. We count each resolution as one Fin outcome; in practice Fin's outcome count can be higher, because it also includes conversations where the customer stops replying. We assume one Freddy session per conversation. Sales-led tools are left out because they don't publish prices.
| Tool | AI cost | Seats or platform | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aftersales (Growth) | 3,000 x $0.99 = $2,970 | 5 x $69 = $345 | $3,315 |
| Intercom Fin (Advanced) | 3,000 x $0.99 = $2,970 | 5 x $85 = $425 | $3,395 |
| HubSpot (Service Hub Professional) | 3,000 x $0.50 = $1,500, less $30 of included credits | 5 x $90 = $450 | About $1,920 |
| Freshdesk Freddy (Pro) | 4,500 extra sessions x $0.49 = $2,205 | 5 x $55 = $275 | $2,480 |
| Gorgias (Advanced) | 3,000 x $0.90 = $2,700 | $750 (5,000 tickets, used by AI and human tickets) | $3,450 |
| Zendesk (Suite Professional) | 2,950 x $2.00 = $5,900 pay-as-you-go | 5 x $115 = $575 | $6,475 |
| Salesforce Agentforce | 5,000 x $2 = $10,000 | Salesforce licenses extra | $10,000 plus licenses |
Checked October 2026. Confirm current prices on each vendor's site.
Two things move these numbers more than the rate card. The billing unit decides how many conversations you pay for: Agentforce and Freddy bill all 5,000, Aftersales bills the 3,000 Agent resolved. The definition of success matters too: an outcome or resolution that counts silence as success bills more conversations than one that needs the problem fixed. Zendesk committed rates are lower than pay-as-you-go, so ask for a quote.
Test it on your own volume. Start a 14-day free trial and see how many of your conversations Agent resolves before you pay for one.
Which Fin alternative should you choose?
Pick by where your team works today and what you want to pay for.
- Same price as Fin, billed only on resolution, with actions: Aftersales.
- Keep your helpdesk, replace only Fin: Aftersales Agent inside Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk.
- Product tours and in-app messaging to logged-in users: stay on Intercom. Fin and Intercom's messenger are still the stronger pair here.
- Voice-heavy enterprise contact centers: Sierra or Decagon. Both cover voice, which Aftersales does not list.
- Predictable per-conversation enterprise budgets: Ada.
- Cheapest published price per resolution: HubSpot Customer Agent, if you run HubSpot Service Hub.
- Salesforce-native build: Agentforce.
- Shopify-first stores: Gorgias or Aftersales; see the best AI agents for ecommerce support.
- Lowest seat cost on a budget: Freshdesk with Freddy.
