What is omnichannel customer service software?
Omnichannel customer service software keeps one conversation record per customer across every channel, so email, chat, phone, WhatsApp, SMS and social messages land in one queue and one history. An agent, or an AI agent, sees everything the customer has said, wherever they said it.
The test is simple: if a customer chats on Monday and emails on Tuesday about the same order, does your team see one conversation or two tickets with no link between them? Good omnichannel tools also route by skill and priority across channels and report on cost and resolution per customer, not per channel.
What is the difference between omnichannel and multichannel customer service?
Multichannel means you offer several channels; omnichannel means those channels share one customer record. With multichannel support, phone, email and chat often live in separate tools or separate tickets, and the customer repeats themselves. With omnichannel support, context follows the customer.
| Multichannel | Omnichannel | |
|---|---|---|
| Customer record | One per channel or per ticket | One per customer across channels |
| Queue | Separate queues or tools | One queue with routing across channels |
| Switching channel | Customer repeats the story | History and order data carry over |
| AI | Bot per channel, often a separate product | One AI agent on every channel, same knowledge and procedures |
| Reporting | Channel-level metrics | Cost and resolution per customer and per conversation |
AI makes the gap wider. An AI agent that only sees the chat widget cannot know the customer already emailed twice. In Aftersales, Agent works from the same record as your team, and Insights reports cost per conversation across seats, resolutions and channels.

How did we compare omnichannel customer service software?
We checked each vendor's own site and pricing page in October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish prices we describe the model instead.
- One record: does a customer get one conversation history across channels, or a new ticket per contact?
- Channel coverage: email, chat, phone, WhatsApp, SMS and social, and which are included versus metered add-ons.
- AI on every channel: can one AI agent answer and act across channels, and how is it billed?
- Routing and handoff: cross-channel routing, SLAs, and what context a person gets on escalation.
- Pricing model: per seat, per ticket, per resolution or quote-only, and how it scales.
Aftersales is our product and we list it first. Each entry has an honest "watch out for", and we say where another tool is the better pick.
The 9 best omnichannel customer service software tools
1. Aftersales: best for teams that want one conversation record that AI can also resolve
Aftersales puts email, web and in-app chat, WhatsApp, SMS, phone, social DMs and Slack Connect into one Inbox, shared by people and AI. A customer who starts on chat and follows up by email is still one conversation, with tickets, views, SLAs and company metadata (plan, ARR, region, custom fields) as filters and columns.
The difference from most omnichannel helpdesks is that the same record is worked by Agent, which resolves conversations end to end in 31 languages and takes actions: it verifies Shopify orders, creates replacements and issues Stripe refunds within spend limits you set. When it hands off, the person gets the conversation, the data Agent looked up and what it already tried. Median resolution by Agent is 71% of conversations after 90 days.
Where it is weaker: Aftersales was founded in 2024, so it has fewer marketplace apps than Zendesk or HubSpot. If you want a single lifelong thread for a high-touch retail brand with a large voice team, Gladly is built around exactly that. If your support must sit inside your CRM, HubSpot or Kustomer fit better.
- Best for
- Support teams that want every channel in one queue and an AI agent that resolves and acts on the same record
- Pricing
- Free plan (1 seat, live chat + email inbox, first 50 Agent resolutions free). Starter $24, Growth $69, Scale $109 per seat/month billed annually; monthly is 20% more. Phone with transfers and recording on Growth and up. Agent $0.99 per resolution, counted once per conversation; conversations Agent can't help with are free. See pricing.
- Strengths
- One Inbox for every channel; Agent takes actions with guardrails and escalation rules; Copilot drafts replies that cite sources; Insights cost per conversation across seats, resolutions and channels; GDPR DPA, US-hosted.
- Watch out for
- Smaller app ecosystem than older suites; SSO, SAML and SCIM are on Scale, and all data is hosted in the US. Confirm niche integrations on a call.
2. Gladly: best for high-touch consumer brands that want one lifelong conversation
Gladly is the clearest example of the "one conversation record" idea. Instead of opening a new ticket each time, it keeps one thread per customer that, in its own words, "never resets", with past chats, calls and emails threaded together. It now positions itself as AI for both shopping and service, with voice AI, and its customers include premium retail and beauty brands.
It is a better fit than Aftersales for large consumer brands with big voice teams that want the lifelong-thread model and AI-assisted selling. It is sales-led, with no public pricing.
- Best for
- Premium retail and consumer brands with large, voice-heavy service teams
- Pricing
- Not published; quote from sales.
- Strengths
- Single continuous thread per customer across channels; voice and chat AI; selling and service in one place.
- Watch out for
- No public pricing or free plan; aimed at larger brands, so it is heavy for small teams.
3. Zendesk: best for large teams that need the broadest omnichannel suite
Zendesk Suite bundles email and ticketing, messaging and live chat, voice and social channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp, Slack, WeChat, LINE) with omnichannel routing on every Suite plan. Its ecosystem and admin depth are hard to match.
The record is still ticket-first: each contact creates or updates a ticket tied to a user profile. AI agents are billed per automated resolution, with a small monthly allowance per agent and pay-as-you-go resolutions at $2.00. Already on Zendesk? You can run Aftersales Agent inside it without migrating. See our Zendesk pricing guide.
- Best for
- Large or complex support orgs that want every channel and a deep app marketplace
- Pricing
- Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 per agent/month billed annually ($69 and $149 monthly); Enterprise via sales. Automated resolutions beyond the allowance from $2.00 each pay-as-you-go.
- Strengths
- Broad channel list, omnichannel routing, mature admin and reporting, large marketplace.
- Watch out for
- Ticket-centric model; AI resolutions add up; many capabilities sit in higher tiers or add-ons.
4. Kustomer: best for teams that want a CRM-style customer timeline
Kustomer combines a customer service platform with a CRM data model, so conversations across chat, email, text, voice, forms and social sit on a unified customer record. Its AI covers both customer-facing agents and agent assistance. It serves B2C and B2B companies in retail, financial services, travel and more.
Pick it over Aftersales if you want to model custom customer objects and build your service around a CRM timeline. Pricing is custom; voice and WhatsApp are pay as you go. See our Kustomer vs Zendesk comparison.
- Best for
- Mid-market and enterprise teams that want a customer-centric CRM and service desk in one
- Pricing
- Custom pricing via an ROI assessment or sales; Kustomer Voice and WhatsApp are pay as you go.
- Strengths
- Unified customer data model, timeline across channels, AI agents and workflow automation.
- Watch out for
- No public price list; implementation effort is closer to a CRM project than a helpdesk switch.
5. Freshdesk Omni: best for mid-size teams that want omnichannel at a lower seat price
Freshdesk Omni is the omnichannel edition of Freshdesk, adding chat and messaging apps to email ticketing, with options to bring your own telephony or channels via APIs. Freddy AI Agent is included with the first 500 sessions on every plan.
Seat prices sit below Zendesk for similar scope. Read our Freshdesk pricing breakdown before you commit, because AI sessions and Copilot are billed separately.
- Best for
- Mid-size teams that want an established omnichannel helpdesk on a budget
- Pricing
- Growth $29, Pro $79, Enterprise $119 per agent/month billed annually; about 20% more monthly. 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions included, then $49 per 100 sessions. Freddy Copilot $29/agent/month on Pro and Enterprise. 14-day trial.
- Strengths
- Familiar ticketing, omnichannel workspace, bring-your-own channel and telephony options.
- Watch out for
- No free plan on Omni; session-based AI pricing needs watching as volume grows.
6. Intercom: best for SaaS products that want in-app messaging in the same inbox
Intercom includes unlimited live chat, support email, in-app chat, banners and tooltips on every plan, with SMS, WhatsApp and phone billed on usage. Its Fin AI Agent is priced per outcome, and the Messenger is strong for product-led companies mixing support and onboarding.
Its omnichannel story is chat-first; phone and WhatsApp are metered extras. Our Intercom pricing guide works through the totals.
- Best for
- SaaS and app companies where in-app chat is the main channel
- Pricing
- Essential $29, Advanced $85, Expert $132 per seat/month. Fin AI Agent $0.99 per outcome. SMS, WhatsApp and phone are usage-based.
- Strengths
- Polished Messenger, in-app messaging, Fin on every plan, large app ecosystem.
- Watch out for
- Costs climb with seats, outcomes and metered channels; phone is not its strength.
7. Gorgias: best for Shopify stores that want omnichannel tied to orders
Gorgias brings email, chat, social, contact forms and TikTok Shop into one helpdesk, with SMS and voice as usage-based add-ons. Each ticket shows the shopper's order data so agents can act without leaving the view.
Pricing is by ticket volume rather than seats, which suits small teams with many agents but makes cost depend on volume. See Gorgias pricing and Gorgias alternatives.
- Best for
- Ecommerce brands on Shopify
- Pricing
- Starter $10 (50 tickets), Basic $50 (300), Pro $300 (2,000), Advanced $750 (5,000) per month billed annually; Enterprise custom. AI Agent $0.90 per automated interaction annual ($1.00 monthly), and each one counts as a ticket.
- Strengths
- Deep ecommerce context, ticket-based pricing with unlimited users, social commerce channels.
- Watch out for
- Ecommerce-only focus; SMS and voice cost extra; AI interactions also consume tickets.
8. HubSpot Service Hub: best for teams already running sales and marketing on HubSpot
Service Hub puts the help desk on the same CRM contact record as sales and marketing, with live chat, email, calling, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Its Customer Agent and other AI features run on HubSpot credits included in each tier.
If one record across sales, marketing and service matters more than support depth, it beats Aftersales. Compare it with Zendesk vs HubSpot.
- Best for
- Companies that want service on the same CRM as sales and marketing
- Pricing
- Free tools for up to 2 users. Starter from $7, Professional from $90, Enterprise from $150 per seat/month billed annually. Onboarding fee $1,500 on Professional and $3,500 on Enterprise. AI uses included HubSpot credits, extra at $0.01 per credit.
- Strengths
- One CRM record across teams, calling minutes included, skill-based routing, large ecosystem.
- Watch out for
- Onboarding fees on higher tiers; credit-based AI billing is harder to forecast.
9. Zoho Desk: best for budget-conscious teams in the Zoho ecosystem
Zoho Desk offers a context-aware, customer-centric ticket view across email, social, chat, WhatsApp and telephony, with channels unlocked by tier: social from Express, chat and instant messaging from Standard, telephony and Zia AI from Professional.
It is one of the lowest-cost ways to get omnichannel ticketing, especially if you already use other Zoho apps. See our Zoho Desk vs Zendesk comparison.
- Best for
- Small and mid-size teams that want omnichannel ticketing at a low per-agent price
- Pricing
- Free edition for 3 users (email ticketing). Paid plans per agent per month; in USD roughly Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 billed annually. Zoho localizes prices by region, so check your currency.
- Strengths
- Low price, channels added by tier, Zia AI, fits the wider Zoho suite.
- Watch out for
- Telephony and AI only from Professional; interface and AI less polished than newer tools.

How much does omnichannel customer service software cost for a 10-person team?
For ten agents on an omnichannel tier, seats alone run from under $300 to over $1,000 a month before AI. Example, list prices billed annually, excluding AI usage, telephony and messaging fees:
- Aftersales Growth: 10 x $69 = $690/month, including phone with transfers and recording. Agent adds $0.99 per resolution.
- Zendesk Suite Team: 10 x $55 = $550/month; Suite Professional 10 x $115 = $1,150/month.
- Freshdesk Omni Pro: 10 x $79 = $790/month.
- Intercom Advanced: 10 x $85 = $850/month, with SMS, WhatsApp and phone metered.
- HubSpot Service Hub Professional: 10 x $90 = $900/month plus a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee.
- Gladly and Kustomer: quote only.
Example AI cost: if 3,000 conversations a month reach Aftersales and Agent resolves 50% of them, that is 1,500 x $0.99 = $1,485 on top of seats. Compare that with what a human-handled conversation costs you today; our resolution rate guide shows how to measure it.
